This off-road speed rating describes how quickly the bike rolls under pedal power on smoother ground. The biggest contributors are a fairly average weight, typical trail-width tires, and a capable drivetrain that supports steady speed. All combined, they influence momentum - how hard it is to get moving and how hard it is to keep moving. On hardpack, the tire setup is biased toward rolling speed on firm ground.
